A big thankyou to "Minnie" from katharinefans.com for making a special trip to the LA concert just to help with the glowstick project and for taking the first four excellent videos and for staying up all night getting them online for us and for her recap! I hope you are getting some sleep now Minnie!

Also thanks to "Team Glowstick" for all the effort that went into making the glowstick project a success despite the best efforts of 19 Productions to shut it down.  Please send us any more pictures that you might have of the glowstick project and please identify yourselves in the pictures! (Screen names only - to protect the guilty!)

A special thankyou to Vadia - the main force behind the glowstick project!

Also thanks of course to all of those who participated in the Glowstick project but couldn't be there in person.

"Glowsticks in my pants"

The saga of the glowsticks continues to grow. We now have dozens of glowstick anecdotes in our special glowstick page including a meeting with Peisha. If you would like to contribute your experiences relating to glowsticks at the L.A. concert, please let us know and we will be happy to include them. Pictures also welcome.

minnie from katharinefans.com recap

Yes, I must be crazy writing this at 5:14 AM, PST, Sunday morning. I figured I'd be on the road back to the Bay Area and would be busy the next few days to write my comments about Katharine's homecoming.

Anyway, I must say kudos to Chad and especially Glowmama Vadia aka Nancy for putting together this phantasmic orange glow sticks lites for Katharine's homecoming. But of course, we would be remiss if we didn't thank you many mcphans out there for contributing and making this possible.

I truly thought about you as I braved the 90F heat and shoved glowsticks into the hands of innocent big and little fans entering the Staples Center. Yes, I also encountered the security folks who confiscated and attempted to suppress our glowsticks for Kat campaign.  I must say I would have been depressed about this except for the fact that the fans seemed genuinely happy and excited about receiving the glow sticks. And one of the security folks even accepted one with a smile

The concert. Kat was happy to be home. She showed it. And the phans went crazy. She noticed the orange glowsticks even though I thought they weren't  as showy as I thought it would be.  And the fans around me were a bit reserved about shouting out "Kath-arine, Kath-arine" as our Glowmama reminded everyone to do.

Then, I heard Kat's voice singing BHCT, and I knew I had to start my  recording...Yes, I do enjoy her songs now that I don't have a camera in my hands.  Well, I knew that you were there on my shoulder saying, "Oh, please get it for me and I can't wait to see it or hear it."  Well, I think you and I enjoy listening to her songs, especially since we can play the video over again and always discover something new.

"Think" is a little more than we have seen Kat do, so seeing her dance and scramble about is new to me. She does a bang up job on the song.  And the crowd loves the new livelier Katharine too.

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" I think is probably now her signature song.  Every time she sings it, her interpretation is oh so new and beautiful.

"Living in America" is especially fun for the idols altogether. And it's fun for the audience too who are often urged to join in and clap. Kat is happy that it's her last song of the eve? and so she can continue foot rest. She appeared to be maybe 90%. I loved when the gals do their little chorus routine at the top of the ramp.

The idols, Mandisa, Lisa, Paris, Kellie, Ace, Bucky, Chris, Elliot and Taylor all performed well tonight. The sound system is wonderful. I thought that three screens is a phabulous way for even fans in the nosebleed sections to enjoy seeing their favorites. And the LCD?screens gave me the way to record her songs as I sat in Section 102.

The American idol concert is really a must see and to celebrate the birth of a new star, Katharine McPhee.

It is now 6:22 AM. PST, Sunday morning and the sun is shining through the window in my motel room...Minnie here, over and out!

vadia from katharinefans.com recap

First, I just want to say that even though security & police ended up chasing us, and even though the venue started confiscating glowsticks at the door, Kat fans STILL managed to get 2,000 glow sticks in to show their support.  I think that's pretty cool.    So here's the story . . .

I'll start by saying that it was wonderful to see Katharine live onstage for the first time.  She is such an exquisite performer.  Her voice, her face, her hair, her figure, her moves, her smile: PERFECT.  And it’s hard to shake that feeling that when she looks right at you, somehow she knows exactly who you are.  Anyway, I’d love to give you a “play by play” on what my reaction was to seeing Katharine perform for the first time, but I really have to tell you that much of my first Kat concert experience is a blur because this was such a "working concert:” Texting the chat McLiaison, texting other volunteers, watching for glow sticks, reminding concertgoers around me to chant & wave their glow sticks at the right time, and just being McGeneralish about the whole thing..haha.

It's alright because I knew that I would have the Anaheim concert the next day to really sit back & relax and enjoy watching my very favorite singer ever on stage, and I’m so excited to be sharing that experience with my daughter tonight!!  So here’s what I can recall of last night and our homecoming tribute adventure.  It’s very long, and I’m sure I probably left out details, like about how Katidol kindly walked me back to my car after the show because it was late and Staples Center is not in the best part of town.  (Katidol is SO sweet, by the way.)

The tickets we got for the show were directly to stage right and listed as “slightly view obscured,” so I figured they probably weren't that great but might be a good vantage point from which to get pictures of the whole auditorium, maybe even w/Kat in them.  They turned out to be AMAZING seats - we were like 30 ft from stage right, where Kat spent PLENTY of time, I might add. heehee

At one point, Katharine went down to the pit and did this awesome dance w/some pretty sexy moves RIGHT there in front of concertgoers in the front row.  One of those concertgoers just happened to be Puyatboys, who later told me he couldn't help but scream like a teenage girl! (sorry, I just had to share that, buddy - no one blames you a bit).  I was SO thinking of him when she did that.  AND Puyatboys caught it all on videotape!

Throughout the concert, before Kat came on, we were all so nervous we could barely sit still, waiting to see how the glow sticks were going to go, wondering how many had actually made it in.  It was so cool to see more and more glowsticks coming on throughout the arena as the night progressed.   The distribution of glowsticks could not have been better if we’d planned it – floor section, nosebleed seats, VIP section, every single section of the arena was sprinkled with orange glowsticks.  There were lots of "plants" set to bring in extras, but I'm amazed we got in as many as we did.  We estimated about 2,000.

We (maybe, barely) had 10 seconds after the cheers died down from Patience to get the chant going, and there just wasn't enough time to get people chiming in because BHATCT started SO fast.  It struck me how ironic it was that "Patience" was what we had to sit still through on the final stretch before the tribute was supposed to go off for Kat.

There was a LOT of love for Kat from the audience.   She got standing O's on SOTR. Some say that Kat was crying a bit at the end, but I totally don't know. She said, “It’s so good to be back in my hometown.  I see all that orange.”  The best moment was seeing all the orange glow sticks waving over the audience during SOTR.  It was a beautiful sight.
In the excellent video that Roseselavy took, it’s hard to see all the orange glow sticks far away, but you can definitely see the ones that were closest to us.

I really hope that, even though it wasn't the 10,000 glow sticks we were shooting for, that fans will still be able to see the results of our efforts in videos & pics.  It
's too bad how unbelievably difficult it is to capture those tiny orange dots in a big stadium.

So tonight I'm very excited because I get to bring my daughter to see the show!!! She's been on this AI ride w/me since the get-go, and it will be so fun to share the experience w/her.  And this time, I can really take in every moment of watching the amazing and wonderful performer who has touched my life in ways that I never could have imagined:  Miss Katharine McPhee.

Love to all,

Vadia

P.S. Congratulatio ns on making your way down to the bottom of this loooong recap.

PuyatBoys from KMF recap

We got the glowsticks ready at about 5:30 and all the volunteers went on missions... EVERYONE IS AWESOME!

Some of the stories were...

Canadians stuck about 150+ glowsticks all over them and walked in with them....

One of the guy volunteers actually ran from a cop who was trying to confiscate the glowsticks... I will not name the volunteer as the cop is probably in this forum trying to figure out who the guy was that he couldnt catch! GOOD JOB ________ .

Concert!

KAT ROCKED THE HOUSE! She kept her speech short and sweet but did mention the glowsticks! She sang "Think" and ran down and gave everyone high fives in the front row. I was the lucky last guy and got to hold her hand for a quick second to stop her so she can run the other way! I GOT VIDEO of that and its coming tomorrow...I also was videotaping LIA and got her to wave to me and the camera twice! I will upload that as well as soon as I figure it out. I also got a high five from Kellie, Paris, Bucky and gave a massive swinging high fiver to Chris! Everyone was so awesome and down to earth! I got ACE's infamous jump over BUCKY too which caught me off guard and about ten million pics of everyone else. I'll upload soon and post it only here on KMF!

A very big THANK YOU to everyone who made this HOMECOMING special for Kat! From the donaters to the volunteers, YOU ALL ARE AWESOME AND DID A GREAT JOB! Even though they took a lot away, we got our point across and some glowsticks out!

czar_iya from katharinefans.com recap

I was so excited the entire day cause finally! I'll be able to see Katharine McPhee in person! We arrived at about 5 pm or something and me and my aunt who was volunteers to hand out the glowsticks met up with Nancy and the others. (It was so great to meet you guys by the way!)

It didn't quite go well with the glowsticks but hey, we still pretty much managed to sneak in some and distributed them inside. So there were still a lot of orange glowsticks inside the arena. (it's a good thing I brought a backpack with me, so I was able to hide them under my aunts jacket)

Oh and before that... At first our seats were like in Section 316, but I later found out that our tickets were voided. (I bought those tickets off ebay, so yeah.. we were totally robbed) I was a little worried cause my dad was like really mad and I thought for sure that we would go straight home but we just bought tickets again. Somehow, I think I'm thankful that those tickets got voided, lol. But of course, I still feel bad.

The reason that I'm thankful for it, is because we ended up sitting in Section 114. We were literally 2 rows away from the side of the stage.

Okay so anyways.. I'll just proceed with Katharine. Right when the lights were dimmed, my heart started to race. As of this very moment, I can finally see my American Idol on stage in person. She started singing Black Horse and A Cherry Tree and I stood up and screamed as loud as I can!
It was just so Surreal!

The next song she sang was Think and I totally loved it! Yeah! "Freedom, Freedom!" God! She was so beautiful! Both my mom and my aunt were dancing with the song, I don't know about my dad. Lol! Maybe He is, but he's just not showing it cause it might reveal his feminine side. Hahaha!

After that she said that it was so good to be back home and also gave a shout out to her mom and dad. Then she said "I hope my dad's not crying again" LOL! and Katharine did mention the glowsticks (It was so sweet of her mentioning it). I went like crazy during SOTR cause she was right there in front of me, and I was like "Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!" at the same time holding out my orange glowsticks and trying to hold on to my camera. I swear she was looking straight at me! How could she not? I was wearing the Homecoming Shirt so she totally knew I was a Kat Fan.

Oh God! She was also right there in front of me during Living in America! I screamed out loud again and waved at her! *dies* She's so freakin' gorgeous! Oh wait? I think I mentioned that already.. But yeah!

I took videos of her performances, I must apologize though because it's not that of a great quality and that girl you can hear screaming would be me. Sorry about that, LOL. Also it's kinda shaky... but I'm sure there'll be lots of videos out there.

I'll try and edit it, maybe improve the video quality a little bit. So I'll be putting the videos up tomorrow.

Also, since I was sitting next to the stage I looked down when Taylor was performing and I was like "Hey, it's Elliot" LOL! He was hugging the three ladies down at the side of the stage. I wanted to take a picture but it was so dark and when I turned around he ran back inside. (I was praying the whole time that Kat would come out)

This is quite a long post... I guess I'll stop here.

To end it all, I loved the concert. Everyone was great! Mandisa, Lisa, Ace, Elliot, Kellie, Paris, Bucky and Katharine. They were awesome! I didn't like the performance of two people. It's not that I'm biased or anything, although I think they're great as well but it's just not the type of music that I listen to.

*For all the volunteers, it was so great to meet you guys! I actually had a fun time handing out those glowsticks.. It was a great experience for me.

KittyCat on KMF Recap -- Kat Was Crying

Vadia, thanks so much for all your hard work and your comments about the concert. My seat was on the floor section 1 row 6.

I had a great view of the stage, because there was a 4 large isle separating row 5 and 6. Now, from my spot, I saw very clearly all that was happening on the stage. Kat sat at the top of the stage as she as at all the other concerts. Started singing Cherry Tree and than got up and walked to all areas of the front stage.

She looked FABULOUS, waving and singing and moving with so much energy. I think that her foot must be better, because she didn't mention her show her shoe as she did in the past. After her first song she went right into singing THINK.

That was a bit of a surprize, but She did it better than on the AI show. After this, she talked a bit speaking about how much she appreciated all her fans working to bring her to this point in her life. She thanked her parents, family and friends.

She mentioned her Father and hoped that he was crying. Finally she sang SWOTR, and she was amazing! She always sings this song in a new and creative way. She was really touched by the audiences standing ovation. And, She was CRYING ...Tears were falling down from her eyes. Anyone who was seating as close as I saw this very clearly.

I'm sorry that I didn't get any pictures, because I don't have a cell phone with that capability, but everyone seating near me were filming the show, so there will be plenty of video coverage. I didn't get back stage, but I did speak with Piesha for a few minutes.

She was very gracious and TALL! I say this, because every one in that family are giants. By the way, Kat's sister is really beautiful in person, and again like the other McPhees, very tall! If I remember anything else I'll comment again!

Bravo to our Katharine! She is going to be a big star! Actually she is already!

michele from kat-media.net recap

I just got home last night but here it is. Hopefully it's not too boring!

--

After the concert finished, my sister and I asked the usher where to go for the after party. We pretty much got the grand tour of the arena because no one knew where the thing was being held. Finally, we reach the room where it's supposed to be at and Kat's parents make an announcement that if your pass has the letter "K" on it, to go with them. A small group of people followed them and waited for the nearby elevator. The people that were getting off the elevator, were screaming out SOTR, not realizing that Kat's parents were standing right there. laughing.gif

We were lead to the backstage area. I spotted Ace standing right by us, talking with Peisha. I didn't even think about getting a picture with him..it was going way too fast! Anyways, we eventually made it to the room, where everyone sat around waiting. Daniel was sitting at one of the tables, flipping through the tourbook. Peisha was talking to some of the people & Nick was at the door, greeting people as they came in and out. Me, my sister, my sister's friends & their family sat at a table, talking when Adriana (who is aquainted with my sisters friend) came up to introduce herself to our group of people. She was really outgoing and friendly!

Around 20 minutes or so passed by and Nick had went to go get Kat. The first thing I noticed when she walked through the door, was her big Louis Vuitton purse..I was like ;O I want one!! Oh, so I haven't mentioned that by then I wasn't really aware to what was going on. I was pretty clueless to the whole "after party" thing..I had heard reviews of it being like a meet and greet but when I saw that Kat knew every single person in the room, I got the impression that it was more of a personal gathering for her family and friends. Kat was going around to each table, mingling with all of her friends. We pretty much sat at our table, waiting for her to come over to us but she never did.

We didn't want her to leave without getting the chance to meet her, so the six of us decided to introduce ourselves.

My sister's friend was the first to introduce herself to Katharine. She mentioned how she had worked with Peisha last year (sorry I can't say for what.) Then I somehow managed to get the guts to introduce myself lol. I am reallyyy shy,so if standing next to Kat isn't nerve wrecking enough! But once I started talking to her and saw how outgoing she was, my nerves went away. I told her how I came from Tampa and she was like, "Awww, really?" Then I started telling her about Forsaken Heart (actually I said Kat-media.net) and she got like this really confused look on her face for a second and she was like, "Wait a minute..what's your name??" (as if she knew me or something) so I told her that my name was Michele & that I run the site with my friend Alexa and then she goes, "Learn something new everyday! Thank you both so much!! I'll try to check out the site sometime but sometimes I don't go on sites because there are crazy people!" LMFAO it was really funny the way she said it. sad.gif I was trying to explain to her that it wasn't a forum or anything but I don't think she heard me haha. Then I asked her if she could sign my tourbook, so she opens it up and she's like, "Oh God, I hate these pictures of me!", so I'm laughing at her and she's signing my book, while looking at all of the people in the room (not sure if she realized that or not) but my autograph looks similiar to scribble lmfaoo ;[

Michele from Kat-Media.net
Michele from Kat-Media.net and Katharine

She also signed my Tour shirt too. Then I remember my sister asking her how her foot was because she had the brace back on it but I honestly can't even remember what they were saying. All I remember was walking across in front of Kat, over to stand by my sister and I was looking down at her foot sticking out and I seriously thought I was going to trip over it (how horrible would that have been?!) So then my sister asked if it would be okay if we could get a picture with. We all posed for a picture..I think her friend was the one who was taking it. Then the guy who took the picture held onto my camera, so I could only take that one short video that I took blahh. Umm then afterwards I asked Kat if I could have a picture with her by myself and she jokingly responded, "Oh alright....", so I said something sarcastic back but I don't remember what I said! She was laughing at it though because thats why shes smiling so big in my pic with her. After that we had to leave so she said "It was really nice meeting you!" and that was pretty much it! Nick was at the door and said "Have a nice night!" hahah he was really nice to everyone.

gimmeAHsherry from IDF recap

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the late review of the LA concert but I just got back home from my LA trip a few hours ago so I’d thought I’d hurry and write a quick review and post some pics before I went to bed (got school tomorrow)… The concert was great (other than the glow sticks being taken away and them not allowing posters in) That sucked, but Kat was great!!! lol. She was gorgeous as always and I loved how she mentioned seeing the orange glow sticks throughout the arena… I totally screamed! Even though many glow sticks were taken away, the volunteers did a great job passing them out as best as we could and everyone was SO nice!

I would say the highlight of the night for me was when she came to the side of the stage that my sister and I were on and I held my sister’s bright orange volunteer shirt in the air to show Kat (since they wouldn’t allow ours signs in) and she made this funny squinted face, like she was trying to read the orange shirt and waved to us (we were the only ones standing at the time in the 4th row so she saw us) That was pretty amazing : ) I couldn’t even take pics of Kat because I was freaking out whenever she was onstage and my hands kept shaking with the camera so I had to make my sister take most of them… I was also very impressed by Lisa Tucker (as others were probably too) and I’m also a fan of Elliot’s too so he was of course also amazing…

Oh, and my sister and I were able to sneak some glow sticks into the concert to pass out to people around us and everyone took them especially the young ones. There was a family that sat behind us (I actually felt sorry for them because I kept standing up when everyone was sitting down when Kat was onstage probably blocking their view) and they were Kat fans. The Mom was wearing orange : ) and she had 2 young daughters and husband with her and we talked a bit during the intermission about the glow sticks and volunteer shirt I was wearing (which she complimented and was showing off to her daughters)… she also said that her husband had met Kat once. Anyway, at the end of the concert one of her daughters looked pretty sad for some reason like she had been crying so I thought it would be nice to give her my sister’s orange volunteer Kat shirt that I had been holding in the air for Kat to see since my sister was an Elliot fan who by the way, I had dragged with me to the concert to help pass out glow sticks. Lol. Her daughter was so happy to get the shirt and her mom was so surprised that she immediately offered to pay for it and of course I said it was totally fine : ) Thank you to everyone (Vadia and all the volunteers) who made this such a fun and enjoyable night to remember and to everyone who took videos of the concert!!! bye1.gif
